Fish! South Pacific Collection by BasicGrey

Today I want to share one of my latest creations for BasicGrey featuring the new South Pacific collection.

I just love the tropical patterns in this collection and I've chosen to team this with a favourite photograph of Courtney when she was little - she had just caught her first fish!

I've used lots of lovely layers to create an interesting and colourful background along with the gorgeous large BasicGrey background stamp - Map Of The World - which I totally love!

For some added texture I've stitched some of my paper strips down using a combination of zigzag and plain sewing stitches, leaving some of the thread tails dangling on my page.

Words & Paintery April

Hello everyone! I hope you're all safe and well. We've had an enormous amount of rain on the coast these past few days and things are definitely looking a lot wetter than they were. There are trees down all over the place and power outages, but I think things are starting to look a bit better today. At least the rain has eased off somewhat.

So last week was reveal time at Words & Paintery and oh my! I forgot to put my post up, but better late than never, right?

I created a layout using a Prima canvas base which I painted over for a softer look. I've also shrunk my design down for a smaller version of the sketch, adding some lovely texture using handmade papers and some gorgeous vintage style laces I found in my stash. I'm really starting to renew my love for textiles lately and adding them to my scrap pages has been so much fun.

I've featured a favourite snapshot of the girls - Chantalle McDaniel, Leeane Allinson, Fiona Paltridge, Tiff Firth and myself - at E2C last month. I miss their happy bubbly personalities so much even though we only spent a few days together. Sharing our love for scrapbooking has been such a highlight for me this year and I have so many wonderful memories.

This month the colour palette is soft and feminine and I've really enjoyed creating with it. And as I mentioned earlier, there is also a gorgeous sketch challenge which I've used as well as the palette for my layout.

Have a lovely day all! Much love,

Kraft + Challenge for April

Hello there! I've been meaning to try my hand at the new Kraft Plus challenges and this month I've found myself with some time yesterday to do just that. The vintage inspired colour palette was so much fun to play with and lately I've been finding myself pulling out pretty vintage laces and ephemera so this was pretty much the perfect challenge for me right now.

I've used a fun photograph as my centrepiece taken by the fabulous Tiff Firth of us girls at E2C recently, embellishing my layout with lots of fun elements including travel themed ephemera to help tell the story.

If you're not familiar with Kraft + challenges yet they are fun to play around with and there is a different theme every month. Here's a copy of Aprils' recipe challenge -

Thanks for dropping by, hope you get some creative time in this month!

Somerset Memories News!

Hi guys. Today I want to blow my own trumpet and share some exciting news - I have been published in the new issue of Somerset Memories magazine. I LOVE this mag - it is breathtakingly beautiful from front to back and I can't recommend you getting your hands on a copy enough. Seriously. This publication is amazing.

And I'm so excited to see my name and my work inside!

There are LOADS of homegrown scrappers in this issue. I was absolutely blown away to be reading about some of the amazing Australian talent we have in our country all gathered together in this one beautiful publication - featuring Heather Jacobs work on the cover!

Well, this is my big news for the day - can't wipe the grin off my face!

Scrapbooking Memories - February 2015

I thought I might pop in today to share a peek at one of the projects I created to feature in Scrapbooking Memories V17no9 as part of my regular Creative Team contributions.

For my second article I decided to talk about gesso and how it is fast becoming a staple in many scrapbooking stashes. This is such a versatile medium and can be used in a variety of ways for different effects. In my layout sample above I have used gesso to create a soft and subtle background for a gorgeously girlie page.

Thanks for dropping by, have a great week!

Blue Fern Studios - A Layout & 2 Tags To Share

Hello everyone and Happy Easter! However you celebrate I hope your today is memorable.

Today I want to share my latest creations for Blue Fern Studios, a new layout and two tags. The layout above was created using the stunning Montage collection with lots of fussy cut elements pieced together for a collaged look. I've also used some of the brand new Blue Fern Studios stamps along with a selection of chipboard. You can find more detail on how I've used these elements in my blog post here.

My next project is a tag created with new Love Story collection along with some Blue Fern chipboard. I've painted my chipboard adding further detail using coloured pencil and a fine Sharpie and I'm really loving this technique right now. It takes your plain chipboard to a whole new level!

My last project for today is an Easter themed tag to celebrate the holiday. I've used patterned papers from the Sanctuary collection, adding a few Blue Fern chipboard pieces that I have embossed using a combination of white and glittered gold embossing enamels. The result is fabulous! I just love how the fine detail in the crosses has really popped!

Thanks for calling in today, I hope you enjoy your Easter Sunday holiday and I look forward to sharing some more Blue Fern Studios creativity soon xx

Sweet Heart - April Sketch Challenge Blue Fern Studios

Hello everyone! Today I want to share my April sketch challenge project for Blue Fern Studios.

I've created this piece following the sketch, rotating it for a landscape effect and using some of the beautiful papers from Love Story collection.

I started out with the reverse side of Love Story Calling Cards patterned paper, adding lots of layers from some of my leftover scraps from previous projects - True Harmony, Grand Ball and Sweet Song. I've also added one of the journaling images from the other side of Calling Cards to help frame my photographs.

The finishing touches are a few pieces of Blue Fern Chipboard from the Cogs & Gears set, Notebook Edges, Shabby Flakes and Moving Parts. I've simply heat embossed them using a soft white and pink shade of embossing enamel for a great shabby look.

Here's a copy of this month's sketch. There's a great Blue Fern prize up for grabs - just link up your entry to the blog post here for your chance at winning!

A quick search through Pinterest and I found a gorgeous piece of artwork that really inspired me from the start. I absolutely love the colour combination and the large blocks really drew me in.

This was a quick and easy piece to create using lots of paint and layers to create a background and adding layers of coordinating paper and embellishments from the Adrift collection to finish off. Adding a favourite photograph from one of our holidays really personalises the whole thing.

You can find more detail on how to recreate this look by visiting my BasicGrey blog post here.

Thanks for calling in, have a great day!
