Ballerina - A Recent Art Journal Entry

Today I wanted to drop in and share one of my recent art journal pages I created inspired by this weeks LifeBook 2015 lesson. I've learned so many things since beginning my LifeBook journey last year and I would encourage anyone who has an interest in creating art to tag along. I'm not in any way affiliated or paid etc to promote this class at all, but I can see how far my own style has developed in 12 months since beginning and wanted to share this opportunity with you guys.

If you're interested at all you can find all the information here on Tamara Laporte's blog, Willowing Arts. Maybe I will see you there.

BasicGrey Prism Collection

Today I wanted to call in to share a recent layout I created for BasicGrey using the new Prism collection.

I just love the bold yellow teamed with pretty pinks and aqua and I've used these colours to create a fun and happy feel page.

There's a simple step x step on the BasicGrey blog on how I've created this, so be sure and stop by to take a peek

Have a great day!

Words & Paintery Challenge - January

This month's challenge on the Words & Paintery blog features colours that immediately made me think of the beach, and since it was time I updated my colour chart book - I keep a small Dylusions journal with all my colour samples to refer to - so I decided I should decorate the cover with something beach themed.

I've used paper serviettes to transfer the design to my journal cover, adding paint, paint markers and pencil details to further enhance the look. I just love using this technique lately and I've been doing this a lot in my art journals.

The final touch is a sweet little ship's wheel chipboard element from Blue Fern Studios. I've painted this up, adding shade and detail with coloured pencils and pens.

Here is a look at January's challenge - totally beachy yeah?

My January Projects For Blue Fern Studios

I'm really happy to be sharing my first Creative Team projects for Blue Fern Studios today.

My first project is a layout featuring Blue Fern Studios Montage collection along with some gorgeous chipboard pieces -  Crossing The Lines, Little Birds Set and Good Vibes.

For a completely different look I've used Blue Fern Studios Sanctuary collection, fussy cutting and clustering the gorgeous flower elements from the papers along with that stunning bird image. I've really kept this design simple to allow the beauty of the patterned papers to shine.

And last but not least today I've created a small baby themed canvas featuring a photo of our sweet little girl just a few hours old. Isn't that pout adorable! I created this project using Montage patterned papers, one of the Romantic Page Dangles and finished the whole thing off with a title - perfect. This will look just lovely hanging on the wall.

Thanks for calling in today, I'm so excited to be able to share my first projects for Blue Fern and I look forward to sharing more soon.

If you would like close up photographs and more detail on the products I've used for any of these projects you can find my post on the Blue Fern Blog here.

Mixed Media Doll

Today I wanted to call in to share a project I created from the first week of LifeBook 2015. If you're into mixed media art and creativity you might enjoy this too - I highly recommend it for arty types.

I always seem to forget how much I enjoy creating this kind of art, and it's often weeks in between each journal page and when I do get to dive back in again I find I lose all concept of time and reality. This took two days to complete from start to finish, lots of layers and time taken to enjoy the process.

Thanks for dropping by, I hope you like my little mixed media style guardian.

Blue Fern Studios January Sketch Challenge

Can you believe it's the start of a brand new year already? This year is going to be really exciting for me, I have some great things coming up which I'm looking forward to and so many exciting beginnings.

So firstly I am starting out on a brand new Creative Team with Blue Fern Studios. This has been in the works for me for several months now and finally the day has arrived when I can start sharing some of my work with them.

This month's sketch is fabulous and I was inspired straight away. All those delicious layers perfectly suit my scrap style and couldn't be more fun. I've mirrored the sketch, adding loads of paper layers along with some gorgeous Blue Fern Studios chipboard pieces - Crossing The Lines, Little Birds Set and my title was taken from the Good Vibes pack.

My patterned paper layers are created using a single sheet of patterned paper from Blue Fern Studios Montage collection - Now & Then. I've fussy cut some of the images from the paper, adding torn and punched elements from the leftovers to build texture and design.

There will be one lucky winner selected by random draw who will receive a fab prize package from Blue Fern Studios and 3 further entries featured on the blog simply by uploading your version of the sketch to the Blue Fern Studios blog. You can find all the details for this month's entry here.

Good luck and I can't wait to see your interpretation of the sketch!
