Two New Layouts For C'est Magnifique

Today I am sharing my first two layouts using the new June kit from C'est Magnifique. I love everything about this new kit - I think this one is my favourite so far! - the beautiful fun patterned papers to both the add-ons and the MMM kit - it's all amazing.

In this layout I've used a special photo of the girls when they were little - it was Holly's first day of school. Aren't they looking special!

I've created my background using a doily style stencil along with gesso and texture paste, adding a splash of colour with the Ayeeda paint included in the MMM kit. I've then added lots of layers from the patterned papers, tucking in a die cut doily and die cut flowers along with that sweet little resin angel. I've painted my title, again with the Ayeeda paint, to match the rest of my layout.

In my second layout I've gone a bit more freestyle, creating a very trendy mixed media look with some super heavy gesso, paint and mist from the MMM kit and lots of messy layers of patterned paper. I've tucked in some die cuts from the main kit, a wooden heart, some flowers and used one of the large blooms in the flower add-on to create a frame for my circle cut photograph.

A little different to my usual style but I'm really liking the sense of creative freedom in this page.

Thanks for dropping by, hope you are inspired by my projects today.

You can find the kits here, but they are selling fast so don't wait too long!

Whimsy Flowers - Mixed Media Style

My last project this month for The Scrapbook Store is an art journal entry.

I've created my base using leftover patterned papers from Carta Bella Summer Lovin, building up lots of colour and texture with gesso, matte acrylic paints, paint markers, gel pens and stamps. I created the flowers, again using patterned papers from Summer Lovin, layering them to create lollipop daisies, adding colour and doodling for a fun look and I just love how these have turned out. Just a wee bit of creative whimsy.

Thanks for calling in, here is the list of supplies I used to create this art journal page:

Liquitex gesso
Delta Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint in various colours
Molotow and Zig Paint Pens in various colours
Carta Bella patterned papers
medical gauze
black gel pen
various texture stamps

It's All About...

This month I've been creating with two of the new Carta Bella collections for The Scrapbook Store, starting out with Baby Mine Girl in previous posts (please scroll down) and finishing up with Summer Lovin

I was instantly drawn to this new collection,I just love the combination of common summer icons, bright colours and gorgeous florals. Perfect for some of my summer family snapshots. This is an older photograph of Simon, Holly and myself enjoying a day at a wildlife sanctuary.

For my background on this layout I've been playing around with some of the new Prima Color Bloom mists. The colour I've used in this layout is Sultry Shimmer Tangerine, a bright and vivid rich shade of tangerine with a gorgeous orange/gold shimmer. I've found you get different results with the Color Blooms, depending on the surface you are using. Because I've used a chipboard base coated in gesso in this sample, the results are an almost red shade of tangerine - which I totally love.

Thanks for dropping by, I'll be sharing another layout created using the same collection shortly.

Supplies used:

Baby - Carta Bella Baby Mine Collection

Today I am sharing my third project for The Scrapbook Store using Carta Bella Baby Mine Girl collection.

I think I said it in an earlier post but I'm going to say it anyway - I really love the retro feel to this collection and went straight to find some of my old baby photos to use with it. I've used lots of layers and tattered them up a bit to help give the layout an aged look, adding some gesso and mists for a soft chalky finish.

Originally my background was just a monotoned mint shade using Prima Color Bloom mist in Soft Teal, but I decided at the last minute to add a touch of coral to break up the colour block, and I'm happy with how that turned out.

Thanks for dropping in, I hope you all enjoyed your Mother's Day yesterday - lots of pampering and happy mum moments x

A Page For My Art Journal

Today I want to share another project created for The Scrapbook Store using papers from Carta Bella Baby Mine Girl collection

I've based my art journal page around one of the nursery rhyme images from Girl Nursery Rhymes patterned paper - Three Blind Mice. This was one of my favourites when I was young, and I would sing it all the time - but I'm not sure I understood at the time how disturbing this story really is. But, it's still a favourite tune.

I've layered some torn patterned papers together, adding gesso, gauze and matte acrylic paint in coordinating colours along with some distressed heat embossed stamped textures. I love the random mixed media result - just a bit of fun.

Supplies used:

Liquitex gesso
Liquitex Matte Medium
Delta Creative Ceramcoat Matte Acrylic paint - Lisa Pink

Sugar & Spice

My first project this month for The Scrapbook Store features the lovely pink shades of the Carta Bella Baby Mine collection. I've combined this with lots of mixed media texture on the base of my layout such as gesso, texture paste, embossing enamel and medical gauze.

One of my favourite "go to" techniques right now is to tear not only my patterned papers but also my photographs for an instant shabby look. I'm also really loving sequins and of course, a misted background. I've used the brand new Prima Color Bloom mists here in a combination of shades in Cotton Candy and Pearl White. I've also used a giant metal ampersand paperclip from Maya Road, giving it a coat of gesso and adding it over my title for a fun look.

Products used:

12x12 chipboard
Liquitex Flexible Modeling Paste
Liquitex gesso
Tim Holtz Layering Stencil - Bubble
Prima Color Bloom Spray - Sparkling Pastel Cotton Candy
Prima Color Bloom Spray - Sparking Pastel Pearl White

BasicGrey Herbs & Honey Collection

Today I want to share my latest project using the new BasicGrey Herbs & Honey collection - perfect for scrapping those country photographs like the one I've used on my layout.

I've really enjoyed playing around with the lovely country style prints, layering them up with lots of beautiful colour to coordinate with my photo.

For a bit of a fun touch I've used an Herbs & Honey Printed Kraft Bag as a photo frame on top of the layered patterned papers adding my title on top. I've used Herbs & Honey Alphabet Stickers in two shades for a shadow effect and the coordinating die cut chipboard Alpha.

At the top of my design I've used a BasicGrey printable library card design found in the Silhouette shop for my hidden journaling, tucking it into a smaller sized Herbs & Honey Printed Kraft Bag  and adding another layer with a black and white version of my main photograph to mimic a file tab.

And I've always had a soft spot for vintage style milk bottle tops such as this one from the Herbs & Honey Chip Sticker Shapes, and that sweet little pea pod chip is just too adorable.

Thanks for calling in, hope you enjoyed my latest project for BasicGrey. Have a great day x

A Stunning Design By Jo Kinder

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to have attended a local scrapbooking retreat and got to catch up with some great scrappy friends.

I'm so happy to know Jo Kinder - she is honestly a lovely person and an ever so talented lady. AND I am now the proud owner of a Jo Kinder original layout featuring a treasured photo of Courtney! This is such a breathtaking layout - lots of mixed media goodness teamed with soft pastel shades in Jo's gorgeous scrap style. How lucky am I? I was absolutely thrilled to bits when she gave it to me at the end of retreat.

Luv ya, Jo x

Guest Designing @ Inkido - May Mood Board Challenge

With the cool weather change in Australia lately I was really happy to have had the opportunity to scrap a layout with a distinct summer theme. This month I have the great honour of being a guest designer on the Inkido blog, using some of their gorgeous patterned papers creating a layout from May's mood board. And it's a stunner too featuring my happy colours! How could I go wrong?

I've chosen to run with the aqua/teal shades teamed with soft shades of white/sand using photographs taken on a fantastic holiday at Monkey Mia in Western Australia. The dolphins come right up to the beach! Truly a small piece of paradise on earth.

I've created my own customised background with ink sprays and added some torn and shabbied Inkido patterned papers and I loved how easily they all came together. I've added some Prima flowers and a sweet little resin starfish element - the perfect touch!

Lastly I've arranged my title using a gorgeous Prima sentiment along with a sprinkle of coordinating sequins.

Thanks for dropping in - I hope you can pull out some of those wonderful beachy themed photographs and join us at Inkido for the May mood board! See you there!
