Prima: Ingvild Blome: Shabby Chic Treasures: Resin Butterflies
Blue Fern Studios: Chipboard: Spring Frame

Reveal day is here and this month's kit from C'est Magnifique had been named "A Touch Of Refinement".

I've had such a lovely time creating with this kit - not my usual style of products but the challenge has been fun and I always enjoy pushing my scrap style to new heights.

I've gone a little bit grunge this month, using darker colours and distress, but letting my own style peek through as well. There is a distinct vintage feel to both these layouts today and I'm really loving the rich purple shades teamed with traditional vintage style patterned papers from Riddersholm.

I've combined papers and embellishments from the main kit this month along with the flower add-on, embellishment add-on and the Magnifique Mixed Media kits.

In my second layout I've altered the Blue Fern Studios oval chipboard frame with Viva Inka Gold which comes in the MMM kit and added a touch of colour to the chipboard flowers with the Shimmerz pot, which also comes with the MMM kit.

More details on this months kit and the contents can be found in the C'est Magnifique store here.

Thanks for dropping by, enjoy the rest of your weekend x

Basic Grey - We Love Her So

Today I am really happy to be sharing a layout using the brand new and super delicious collection from BasicGrey, Spice Market.

I have to be honest, when I first caught a glimpse of this collection my heart skipped a beat - the intricate patterns, gorgeous colour combination and innovative embellishments really had me drawn in. I'll tell you a secret, I think this is my very favourite BG collection out of all the new releases. So far. I think I will keep my options open for now - a girl has to reserve the right to change her mind, right?

I've used a treasured photo of my husband, Simon and our much loved silver Burmese cat. She is 12 months old now and just as beautiful as ever. She is such a loving creature.

I've created some hidden journaling behind my photograph using a couple of clear Attach Me Stickers from the Capture collection to form hinges behind the photo. I've added a third Attach Me Sticker, this time in Emerald Green, to create a tab opening.

Tucked in behind my paper layers on the top left I've used a couple of the new Painted Stamped Metal Shapes. These are GORGEOUS and remind me of antique ornate pressed metal. Such a fantastic embellishment idea. I'll let you in on a wee secret - I've actually cut these in half and saved the second halves for another project - waste not, want not right? But they also look fabulous layered up together as whole pieces. I was in two minds on how to use them on this project.

And lastly here is a closer look at the Spice Market Printed Chip Alpha. I've altered them slightly using an archival quality black marker to carefully outline each letter before adhering to my layout to help the title really pop and replaced the letter "O" in LOVE with a sweet little flower design from the Printed Chipboard Shapes pack just for fun.

I hope you enjoyed my project today - I really loved creating this one. Thanks for dropping by,

Elsie - A Layout & Tag With Pion Designs A Day In May Collection

Today I am sharing the last couple of project I created for The Scrapbook Store and Pion Designs A Day In May collection

I created my layout "Elsie" using a photograph of my husband's grandmother in a shabby vintage style. The papers in this collection come together so easily - everything just works. I've simply torn my edges to create a tattered look and layered them up, adding lots of flowers in colours to coordinate my photo.

Supplies used:

My second project is a tag with an Easter theme - can you believe we are almost at that time of year already! I've used a Prima tag as my base, adding texture paste and gesso then highlighted the texture with the new Aladine IZink Pigment Ink in gold which gives an amazing rich metallic gold finish. I simply applied this using the tip of my finger to bring out those details.

A Sneak Peek @ C'est Magnifique April Kits!

I'm really excited today to be sharing a peak at what I have been doing with the brand new April C'est Magnifique kits. I thought I would start by sharing a layout I created in a vintage style with a more modern twist, simply titled "dad".

I started out with a 12x12 plain chipboard base coated in gesso, adding color and texture with the mist which comes in this month's Magnifique Mixed Media kit. I've then added some luscious layers of patterned paper and embellishments available in the main kit and embellishment add-on.

I've used the main kit, flower add-on, embellishment add-on and the Magnifique Mixed Media kit on the layout.
From my own stash: 12x12 chipboard, gesso

For my second layout I went for a softer, more romantic feel using the aqua/green shades in the kit along with a treasured baby photo of myself. Those butterfly resins really add so much to the finished look.

I've used the main kit, embellishment add-on and Magnifique Mixed Media kits to create this layout.
From my own stash: heavy white cardstock, gesso, embossing medium

Thanks for dropping by - hope you enjoyed my little preview! Lots more inspiration from the April kit coming up over the next few weeks.

So Lovely - Sketchbook 365 Challenge Featuring Inkido

This month the girls at Sketchbook 365 have been creating with a selection of some of the gorgeous Inkido products from Papercraft Scandinavia along with new sketch. I just love the shabby, romantic style of these papers and this layout came together super fast with lots of gorgeously textured layers.

If you are new to Papercraft Scandinavia, here is a little more info about them - it's well worth a visit to check them out:

"Papercraft Scandinavia is a manufacturer that design and make unique material for scrapbooking, cardmaking and other craftings.
We design stamps, patterned paper, lace, flowers and much more in romantic vintage style. Our products are of high standard, inspiring and amazing to create with.

I've stuck to the sketch fairly closely this month, making my design a little larger than in the sketch and creating more layers for some added interest. As I'm a big fan of white space I found this one super easy to work with.

Thanks for dropping in today, I hope to see your entry for this months' challenge over on the blog.

1973 - Pion Designs A Day In May

Every now and again I really enjoy stepping outside my usual scrap style and diving into a bit of vintage or shabby chic. This month for The Scrapbook Store I get to indulge that side of my style with a really beautiful and delicate collection by Pion Designs - A Day In May.

I've just loved creating a couple of heritage style layouts this month, the first of which features a photograph of me when I was a 6 year old flowergirl. I just didn't want to smile that day since I had lost both my front teeth so I just sat looking all miserable for the night, and even though there was no smile I my face I still treasure this photograph of myself as a little girl.

I've followed the natural style and colouring of the Pion papers, adding some torn paper layers and a ring of matching flowers and leaves, some Blue Fern Studios chipboard painted with Aladine IZink Pigment Ink in gold along with my title - 1973. Oh where -has- the time gone?

Supplies used:

gesso
Prima flowers
Aladine IZink Pigment Ink - Gold

Pion Design A Day In May patterned paper - Borders

A Sneak Peek @ C'est Magnifique April

We will be working with papers from the Swedish brand, Riddersholm. They have such a wonderful vintage feel about them.

Matching elements in the kit include an alpha set, wood veneer banners, some chipboard, trim, chalk ink, resin and of course flowers.

For anyone interested in mixed media like me there's a fab new Magnifique Mixed Media kit add-on as well. These sell out super fast so don't wait if you want one included in your parcel. Expect mist, a variety of arty mediums to choose from, stencil, flowers, embellishments and rub-ons.

Another fun add-on includes lots of embellishments to play with - all perfectly coordinated with the main kit.

And lastly but not least, the flowers.

A huge amount of eye candy here - can't wait to share what I have been doing with the April kit.

Beautiful - My Mind's Eye Mildred Collection

This month for The Scrapbook Store I have been working with one of the brand new collections from My Mind's Eye Now & Then, Mildred which combines pretty bright pastel shades with a gorgeous burnished gold.

For my first layout I've concentrated on using the minty green colours and lots of metallic gold. The ornate vintage picture frame elements are seriously beautiful!

I've used Lindy's Stamp Gang mist to create my mottled background, adding some further texture with some of the Lindy's embossing powder. I then added layers of distressed and torn patterned papers, the vintage picture frames and some tiny glittery gold heart enamel dots. The gold heart embellishment was created by punching the heart from some patterned paper and turning it into an epoxy dot using my Epiphany Shape Studio tool for that finishing touch.

Here I have included a closer look at both the Lindy's embossed detail and the burnished gold elements from MME Mildred.

I just love, love, LOVE the vibrant and fun colors in the patterned papers and coordinating embellishments and really had some fun creating this layout.

Lots of luscious layers of patterned papers over the top of my background add texture and color, creating a fun frame for my photograph. I've used a sentiment from the matching Highline Snippets pad to create my title - "Shine Bright", adding a tiny wood die-cut star embellishment.

On the opposite side of my photo I've layered some pretty acetate flowers and heart, adding a tiny die-cut flower for that finishing touch.

I absolutely adore this collection and can't wait to use it again on another project.

You Love 2 Swing

A brand new month brings a brand new sketch challenge for The Scrapbook Store, and this month I have used some of the beautiful papers and matching accessories from the new Basic Grey Fresh Cut collection. The colours are so pretty and fresh, and I chose to match it up with a lovely spring green shade for my background using Lindy's Shabby Turbine Teal Starburst mist on a thick cardstock base.

This month we've used a cut as ever PageMaps sketch and I've chosen to shrink the sketch and push it to the top corner for my version.

Hope you get to join us this month, there's another AU$40 gift voucher to the store with free postage up for grabs just by uploading your version to our gallery.

March Sketch Challenge @ C'est Magnifique!

The brand new sketch challenge at C'est Magnifique is revealed today, and I wanted to share my version. I've shrunk the sketch a little, pushed the two clusters together a bit more and left the top border off the sketch to suit my LO style. Don't you just love that sweet little fussy cut bird image at the top?

I've added a gorgeous flower cluster on the bottom corner of my photograph, overlapping the flowers so they appear to be an extension of the photo. I've also added a fussy cut stamped image using a stamp that comes in this month's MMM kit.

I've used some torn patterned paper, a sweet little fussy cut bird image, Marion Smith resin flower and some Blue Fern chipboard pieces in my cluster at the top of the layout. You can find these in the main kit, the embellishment add-on and the MMM kit.

Using the chipboard letters which come with the main kit I have created my layout title by adding a light coat of gesso along with a watercolour effect using the Daler Rowney Pearlescent Liquid Acrylic Ink in Sun Up Blue which comes in the MMM kit.

The sketch challenge is open to everyone and there are no required products.  You may use a C'est Magnifique kit, but you do not need to be a member of our kit club to participate.  You are welcome to use whatever you have in your scrapbook stash.  Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch, but we do want to be able to look at your layout and tell that you used the sketch.

We will be awarding two prizes.  The winners will be selected by a random draw.

What do you have to do to enter our sketch challenge?

1.  You must be a follower of The C'est Magnifique Kits blog.  It's easy to become follower - just use the "Join This Site" button on the left side of the blog.

2.  Create a layout using the sketch, and add it to the C'est Magnifique blog post using the Inlinkz tool provided.  Please link to the actual blog post where you have uploaded your layout  (not your general blog address). If you do not have a blog, you may link to an online gallery post. Please also provide your first and last name. You will be asked to enter your email address, but it will not be published.

Deadline for entering the sketch challenge is midnight, March 12, 2014 (US time).
Have fun with the sketch.  We can't wait to see how you use it!

Cool, huh?

Joy - C'est Magnifique March Kit

My fourth layout using the new "Between Winter And Spring" kit at C'est Magnifique for March features a favourite photo of Courtney.

I've added some drama by mixing a few drops of the Art Anthology Colorations Spray from the main kit with some gel adhesive from my stash and added the drips to my flowers so they appear to be melting.

I've also used my round Epiphany Crafts tool to create a perfectly matched bubble cap embellishment - this isn't included in the main kit.
