An Exciting New Adventure

A week or so ago I dropped a little hint to my facebook friends that I might have something exciting to share soon. Well, the time has come to be able to shout about how excited I am to be joining the brand new Basic Grey Design Team for 2014

I am absolutely thrilled beyond words to be starting this amazing adventure with so many other wonderful designers whom I have stalked admired for so long. And I'm so head over heels in love with all the brand new releases from Basic Grey at CHAW recently and cannot wait to share my projects over the coming months using these amazing new products.

Dreams really do come true :)

Holly - The Optimist Collection for The Scrapbook Store

Here is my second layout for The Scrapbook Store using Prima The Optimist collection - which I am absolutely loving. I love the bright colours against the contrasting black chalkboard look and it's really been fun to play with.

This page features a photograph of our eldest daughter Holly, taken when she was younger while we were in Cairns enjoying a ride on the skyrail. It probably doesn't look it, but we are way, way, way up high!

I've used watered down acrylic paint to create a watercolour look on my cardstock before adding torn strips of The Optimist "Happy" paper along with that beautiful fussy cut flower image. I've also used some Prima Say It In Crystals Swirls, a gorgeous shabby butterfly resin and Manor House Creations Ornate Frame.

Products used:

Bazzill Candy Shoppe Heavy Weight Cardstock - Marshmallow
Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint - Tropic Bay Blue
Manor House Creations Ornate Frame Cheval White
Prima The Optimist patterned paper - Happy
Prima The Optimist patterned paper - Focused
Prima The Optimist patterned paper - Perfect
Prima Say It In Crystals - Swirls
Snug Hug Seam Binding - Bay Leaf

Enjoy the rest of your day

Broome, WA - Basic Grey Carte Postale

A few months ago I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to design a few layouts using Basic Grey's fabulous Carte Postale collection on behalf of The Scrapbook Store

This week I have been doubly blessed to have this same layout featured on the Basic Grey blog and I'm absolutely thrilled to bits!

I've used lots of layers in my design along with my large photograph - all with a great travel theme which compliment my holiday photo perfectly.

I love that these papers can be used as they are or you can cut apart the individual images to use as I've done in this picture here - lots of yummy layers!

Thanks for calling in, don't forget to drop by the Basic Grey blog to leave them some love too!

Adore You - Sketchbook 365

I'm really happy to be returning for a second term on the Design Team for Sketchbook 365 and I've been looking forward to starting again with a brand new group of amazing designers. I've been keeping this to myself for a little while now while there have been a few little changes going on - one being that you can now find us and our challenges on the Scrap365 blog along with the fabulous Scrap365 team - you might want to update your blog links to keep up to date with the current happenings :)

So, with the announcement of a new team comes a brand new sketch and a brand new challenge, and this one is just too easy. Follow along with the sketch, show us your own style, use your own colours and products and show us what you've got. Don't forget to link your project on the Scrap365 blog for a chance at a cool prize - you just never know!

For the current sketch I've gone all girlie and arty - pretty much my usual thing lately, using lots of mist, texture paste, gesso, paper layers and gorgeous flowers.

I'm just crazy about the tiny "love" banner on the canvas frame overlapping my photo - it's just too cute! I've added a couple of paper roses, a button, clockface and twisted wire to draw your eye to the background textures.

On the opposite side a gold acetate frame along with a tiny metallic gold heart, more flowers, chipboard and paper layers finish the whole look.

I've really enjoyed playing with this sketch and I can't tell you how happy I am to be returning for a second term on this fantastic team.

Thanks so much for calling in, I hope to see your entries!

Another Layout For The Scrapbook Store Featuring MME Heirloom Collection

Today I want to share my third layout for The Scrapbook Store featuring papers and elements from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Record It - Heirloom collection.

I've used "Sweet" patterned paper as my base, adding gesso to block some of the pattern but leaving just a hint of it showing through for some texture, as well as allowing the edges to show through. I'm really liking this look - it's kinda worn and aged in a shabby way.

I've added lots of little elements from both the patterned papers and ephemera pack, and don't you just love the prize ribbon in the top right corner! I've used a large Green Tara paper rose and some leaves to give it an organic feel and I'm really liking the look of this.

Supplies used:

Ingvild Bolme Fluid Chalk Edger - Shabby Tote
Ingvild Bolme Fluid Chalk Edger - Dark Rust
Thanks for dropping by, have a great day x

Joy - A Baby Layout Using Prima The Optimist Collection for The Scrapbook Store

This month for The Scrapbook Store I get to create with not one but two collections, and today I wanted to share my first project using Prima's The Optimist collection.

I wanted to do something a little different with The Optimist, so I chose to create a baby layout. I love this photograph of Courtney when she was just a day or two old and even at such a young age her little personality was still shining through. She has such beautiful hands - sadly not from me! - and a gorgeous pout and this is one of my favourite baby photographs of her.

I'm really loving how this turned out. It's such a different colour scheme to the usual baby themed layouts but it's totally working for me.

I've also entered this layout into the current challenge Case File #104 over at CSI Color Stories Inspiration since this weeks challenge was an absolute perfect fit for my page. My journaling is written on a tag which I have tucked in behind my photo cluster and talks about Courtney's sleep habits as a newborn.

Supplies used:

12x12 chipboard
Viva Decor Croco Crackling Color - White
Prima Marketing The Optimist collection patterned paper - Happy
Prima Marketing The Optimist collection patterned paper - Magnitude
Prima Marketing The Optimist collection patterned paper - Perfect
Prima Marketing The Optimist collection - Brads
Green Tara 2cm Mini Roses - Black

Thanks for calling in today x

Sweet - Sketch Challenge @ The Scrapbook Store

Today I am sharing my take on the new January sketch for The Scrapbook Store. As in my previous post I have used the oh so yummy My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Record It - Heirloom collection along with a Prima mask for my background texture, an Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio punch and acrylic bubbles and a few Prima flowers to finish off the look.

I've rotated the sketch to suit my photographs, adding lots of layers and elements from my kit along with torn paper edges. Loving the Ephemera pack!

Here is a copy of the sketch - don't forget there is a $40 voucher plus free postage to the store just for entering and uploading to our gallery!

Priceless - My Mind's Eye and Manor House Creations For The Scrapbook Store

This month I have been spoiled rotten with not one but two kits to play with for The Scrapbook Store, and I've decided to start my year off with a big blast of coral - my favourite go to colour right now. I love this colour so much atm so I was super dooper happy to have the chance to create with My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Record It Heirloom collection. A bit of a mouthful, I know, but worth the tongue tangle!

I've used a mix of acrylic paint and water to create my customised inky background on gesso coated chipboard and layered my MME Heirloom embellishments along with the oh so stunning Manor House Creations Red Vine to which I've added a couple of paper roses and rosebuds.

Really, how amazing is that vine?

The cute as ever die cuts look fabulous behind my photo, but why stop there? Now that I'm looking at this again I am tempted to tuck a few more ephemera pieces in and around. And who can resist a banner made from tickets and other little bits, not me that's for sure!

Thanks so much for calling in to see me, hope you've all recovered from New Years by now and looking forward to the year ahead. Bring it on :)
