A Fabulous Storage Solution - Dealing With My Washiholism

The other day I had an epiphany. You see I have a great love for fantastic storage solutions and I also have a great love for washi and tape. So when I realised that slim Artbin Super Satchels were probably perfect for washi storage it was one of those light bulb moments. Plus as an added bonus, this truly appeals to my rainbowitis as well. I know, I have issues. And I might be a little slow on having realised this but it's totally bloggable and makes such a pretty photo too.

So what do you think? Hot or not?

Thirteen Layouts For 2013 - A Few Of My Faves

I can hardly believe I am writing this post already - it seems like not that long ago I wrote a similar post at the beginning of this year and here we are already - a whole year later. It really is true that the older you get the faster time seems to go. But I do love going through my years work and reflecting on the things I have been creating. There are often surprises, design styles become apparent and it's always interesting to watch trends come and go. So that's enough chatter. Here are my favourites from 2013 not in any particular order or preference - I hope you like them as much as I do :)

Peace Love Joy - December BAP

I had a little time yesterday and spent it creating this layout based on the Prima BAP for December. My background was created using Finnabair's 12x12 stencil "Bubbles" along with gesso and a painted background in aqua to coordinate with the Prima Holiday Jubilee collection I've used in this layout.

I twisted a Prima vine into a wreath shape adding more flowers, leaves, sequins, a wooden icon toy horse and a Prima Resistant Canvas flower and added it around my photograph to help create focus.

I've also added a tiny cluster in the bottom corner of my layout following the sketch and to finish the look, again using a canvas piece which I painted in aqua, a stamped image of a tiny banner and one of those adorable little Prima flowers.

Here is a copy of the sketch. Thanks for calling in today.

Fairytale - A Mixed Media Canvas

I've been going through some of my layouts from 2013 and I've had such a busy year that I have failed to blog about some of the layouts I have created for scrapbooking magazines just simply because from the time a layout is created to the day it is published - then you wait a period of time before you are able to share it in social media yadda yadda yadda - this can all add up to several months, and in some cases over a year. This was exactly the case with this layout. I created this piece on a 12x12 canvas panel using lots of mediums, techniques and design ideas and technically it doesn't really belong in 2013 since I actually made it back in about August or September 2012 but it took a year for it to be published. I was so happy to see it finally in print in Scrapbook Creations magazine and now I am able to share it here as well.

This layout really was an epic project. Mixed media style layouts were just coming into their own and I spent a lot of time figuring out how I wanted this to look. I had these gorgeous photographs of Courtney taken when she had black hair and she indulged me by dressing up in some of my old dresses from when I was her age and let me take these photos. She looks just like a fairytale princess, and so my inspiration and theme was borne.

This truly is one of my all time favourite layouts to date and I treasure it greatly.

Thanks for calling in, hope you enjoy my layout.

My Gifts - The Scrapbook Store December Sketch

This month I have used Prima's Delight Collection which is one of my absolutely favourites from Prima this past few months. I just love all the beautiful soft colours and sweet elements done in that classic shabby chic style and I've really been enjoying creating with it lately.

The new sketch for The Scrapbook Store has a distinctly Christmas feel to it, so I have adapted Delight and given it a Christmas theme featuring photos of my darling girls - my greatest gifts.

I hope you get to play along with our sketch again this month. Don't forget there is a $40 randomly drawn voucher to the store plus postage to be won just by entering and uploading your design to our gallery. Pretty cool, huh? Hope to see you there!

Joy - December challenge at 123

So December is here and the new challenge for 123 blog is now up and running. Sadly, this will be my last post as part of this Design Team as I am taking a step back from a few commitments over the coming year. But with every ending there comes a brand new beginning, so keep a look out for some amazing talent joining the team in 2014! It's all very exciting stuff!

I can't seem to get enough pink and gold lately, so I've used gold embossed textures along with my title, "Joy" and the sweetest little tiny ribbon embellishment on the letter "O" which totally gives the impression of a Christmas wreath. Pretty appropriate for December, don't you think?

Here is the prompt, can't wait to see what you come up with :)

May Flowers - Once Upon A Sketch

So December is here at last. I am usually a bit panicked when the calendar ticks over to this time of year but for whatever reason this year I'm not at all worried. And it has nothing to do with being organised - because I'm just not ready for Christmas at all - I'm just happy to see this month come around.

Sadly though with December here it means this will be my last layout as a member of the Design Team at Once Upon A Sketch. I've had such a lovely time on this team - it honestly has been one of my all time favourites - but with the New Year there will be a brand new Design Team stepping up and a whole bunch of fresh new inspiration - and that really is something to look forward to.

So for the month of December we have all been scrapping our favourite month of the year, and I chose the month of May simply because I love the gorgeous flowers around at that time. I took these photographs of the most stunning pink gum flowers earlier this year during May. They were just growing on the side of the road and I made Simon stop the car so I could take some pictures - aren't they spectacular! Beautiful bursts of bright pink and yellow colour on a white and sage green background!

And of course, I've included a journaling spot on a tag which I have just simply tucked in behind one of my photos. I think the finishing touch on my layout just has to be the sweet little pressed leaves on either side of my design.

It's an amazing sketch this month and I hope we get to see your take on the challenge.

Enjoy your day,
