Boogie Board - A Piece Of Cake Designs Guest Designer

Today I wanted to share the first of my designs using this month's kit from A Piece Of Cake Designs. There are so many fun elements in this kit to play with, and it came together super fast! I just LOVE the gorgeous diagonal striped vellum from Studio Calico - too cute!

For more detail on how this layout came together please visit the blog post here. Everything needed to complete this layout comes with the kit except the 12x12 sheet of smooth white cardstock. So easy!

A Few More Project Life Pages

And so my love for Project Life continues to grow. I cannot stress enough how easy this is and how much fun this style of scrapping is to put together. I'm even enjoying the journaling side - and, you know, that's really something coming from me :)

Today I have a couple more shares, and for this first layout I really wanted to make a feature of the amazing photograph my husband took of the river close by to where we were camped. Absolutely breathtaking. I also included a google map pointing to the camp spot on a map which is a fun idea. Just because google didn't exist back then, does it matter? Of course not!

I'm loving these smaller sized pages too - perfect for that odd couple of photos you might have that need a place to live. Too easy. And they look fantastic tucked in between those larger pages.

Are you getting your Project Life on yet?

Project Life - I've Made A Start!

I've been wanting to start this album for so so long now - actually years ago - before Project Life was ever heard of - but had absolutely no idea how to go about it. We have hundreds, if not thousands, of photographs taken on our big holiday and they have all been sitting sadly in a large cardboard box in the back of a cupboard. But no more! This week I have finally blown the cobwebs away from that box and I've actually made a start on creating the album and documenting the stories of this life changing event.

So this is my first page - no, it's nothing startling or particularly impressive but this is how I wanted my album to be. Simple photographs and the stories behind them. I am extremely lucky to have a husband who loves to journal, and therefore I have an enormous amount of notes to draw from and include in the album. It's simply criminal that it's taken this long for me to get around to doing this - but I am not sure I have been keen until now. Such a daunting task!

I've also never been a fan of my own handwriting but I've decided I need to get over all those insecurities and just embrace who I am and learn to love the little things - such as they are!

Page 2 - and I'm starting to get a feel for it now. Added a few more personalizing touches and I can see a little bit of my scrap style appearing now. I've also renewed my love for alpha stickers.

I'm really getting a roll on now - had to improvise a little though. Who took photos of food back then? Anyone? I'm also loving Mr Google for gathering any info we might have missed along the way. I feel like we are visiting these places all over again!

Just way too much fun :)

Quill Tag

My last project using my July kit for The Scrapbook Store is a tag featuring one of the new Manor House Creations Peacock Feathers in black. They also come in pink, purple, red and yellow as well as the traditional "natural" peacock colours - you can find these here

For my tag I decided to turn my feather into a quill pen using a Tim Holtz Pen Nib and mounted the quill onto a large tag from the Prima Tag Pad. I added some grungy colour with an Adirondack Paint Dabber in Butterscotch, stamping a text background and creating ink splatters with Black Marble Dylusions Ink Spray. I added some embellishments from Glitz Design Yours Truly Glitzers and Puffy Words along with a generous ribbon wrap using some black grosgrain trim.

Photograph It Sunshine, Life Is Beautiful

Here is my third layout for The Scrapbook Store featuring papers and embellishments from Glitz Design Sunshine In My Soul collection. I wanted to keep this design simple by placing focus on the gorgeous colours and textures of the papers.

I've used strips of the same patterned papers on top and bottom of the layout as a design element to add some further interest to the negative space while keeping my photograph as the centre of attention. Lastly I have simply added an eclectic style title using various stickers and epoxy elements from my kit. The list of materials used is as follows:

Glitz Designs Sunshine In My Soul patterned paper - Birds
Glitz Designs Sunshine In My Soul patterned paper - Suns
Glitz Designs Sunshine In My Soul Titles & Accents Sticker Sheet
Glitz Designs Sunshine In My Soul Alphabet & Words Sticker Sheet
Glitz Designs Yours Truly Glitzers
Glitz Designs Yours Truly Puffy Words

Happy - August Challenge for Sketchbook365

Time for a new sketch challenge over at Sketchbook365! I love how the design was easy to put together using the sketch - I kept close to the basic design having rotated the original sketch on it's side. The bright colours of the new G45 collection Bohemian Bazaar were so fun to work with and really inspired me. I'm such a colour fanatic. I hope you can call in and join us this month for some sketch fun. Don't forget to link up!

A Background Tutorial Using Impasto and Croco Crackle - The Scrapbook Store

It's amazing how fast this year has been going, I guess that's what happens when you are having too much fun! There never seem to be enough hours in the day.

This month is my turn at The Scrapbook Store for another tutorial and, of course, I have chosen some more background work to demo. I don't tend to use earth tones a lot when I create - preferring to use bolder colours or pastel shades - but I have been enjoying the more natural tones of my Glitz Sunshine In My Soul kit this month and these colours are perfect for some recent photos we took while we were holidaying on the west coast. In this layout I have used a photograph taken just on sunset from the jetty at Denham as a fishing boat was coming in. Isn't that sunset amazing - and the silhouette of the boat really captures the mood.

Here is a list of materials I've used to create the layout from start to finish, and for a detailed step by step please see my post at The Scrapbook Store here.

I hope you enjoy the tutorial, thanks for dropping in!

Forever Bloom Flowers Of The Sun - The Scrapbook Store

Today I wanted to share my first layout created using my July kit from The Scrapbook Store featuring papers and embellishments from Glitz Design Sunshine In My Soul collection. The colours are so warm and earthy - perfect for masculine layouts or, as I have done in my layout here, beautiful nature themed photographs.

I've gone for a clean and simple layered style today using lots of freestyle cut strips of patterned paper, stickers, lettering and adhesive tapes. I started out with a 12x12 Vanilla cardstock base and began adding strips of paper cut from Glitz Design Birds, Floral, Ledger, Rays and Suns patterned paper. I then added my title using four of the different font stickers from the Alphabet and Words Sticker Sheet and a few fun elements from the Accents Sticker Sheet. Lastly I used some roughly torn coordinating adhesive tape along with a fun banner.

This is a simple design that was very fast to assemble but works really well to showcase your photographs.

Thanks for calling in, enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Two Layouts and a Tag Featuring Green Tara

Today I'm dropping in to share a few projects featuring some brand new Green Tara goodies. I just adore aqua, as anyone who may know me would have guessed by now, so these new aqua coloured flowers really appeal to me. I decided to show them off in a monochromatic style layout having matched the colour of my flowers and repeating it in my background. This technique works really well for any colour you might want to use, just choose your favourite Green Tara flowers and run with it.

My second Green Tara project for July is a purple and gold tag, again featuring some new products - a beautiful Amethyst Satin Rosette flower and some amazing Purple Crushed Organza Ribbon. Very soft and feminine and perfect for that special touch on a project. Don't you just love purple shades?

And lastly I am sharing a recent layout I created using lots of bright colour with a contrasting White Paper Leaf garland and stamens. This is a fun whimsical page and was such a joy to create.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Rose Journal

Today I wanted to share a little something that I have been playing around with in the background. I have recently been totally inspired by some amazing talents to explore art journaling. I absolutely adore using mixed mediums in everything I create so this style of art really appeals to my creative side. It's early stages yet - trying to develop my own style and look but I am loving the process and am very excited to be sharing a few projects. So much fun!

For anyone out there who enjoys art journaling, I would highly recommend visiting Jane Davenport's blog and consider doing one or all of her online workshops. I just love this lady!

123...It's Time For A New Challenge!

I always find the first week of the month is such an exciting time and there is so much inspiration out there to be found with the new month's challenges being posted.

This month's new challenge at 123 is to use the following criteria in your layout:

Colour = Navy, Word = extraordinary, Technique = Denim

I decided to use a recent photograph I took while we were on holidays in Western Australia of this battered sign on the beach. I just adore the colours in this photo and they are perfect for the challenge.

I've used Dylusions inks to create my background, Glitz Designs Unchartered Waters embellishments, American Crafts DIY Thickers for my title (which I totally ADORE), washi tape, a bottle cap and the cutest ever little flair button from A Piece Of Cake Designs - I love these too!

Thanks for dropping in - looking forward to seeing your designs!

50's - July Sketch @ The Scrapbook Store

A new month and a new sketch at The Scrapbook Store with another chance to win a $40 voucher from the store!

I've really enjoyed working with the pastel tones of my FabScraps Milkshake Chic collection so I decided to use the leftovers from my kit to create my take on the sketch.

I've used Chocolate, Vanilla, BlueberryStrawberries, and Raspberry patterned papers, Milkshake chipboard shape, Pictures stickers and Stamps & Tags. I've also added a Kaisercraft rhinestone flourish along with a couple of small Prima paper roses

Hope to see you in our gallery this month :)

2 Fun

Something fun to share today - a layout created using Dylusions Ink Sprays in Lemon Zest and Squeezed Orange along with a funky Crafters Workshop 12x12 Microbial mask using some Stampendous Frantage embossing powder to create the pattern. I've also used lots of Green Tara paper roses and leaves for my wreath design, some new Green Tara stamens which are pretty cool and some pearl trim

This is also my entry for the current challenge over at Skissedilla

I just realised we are now in July - how on earth did that happen?
