Enjoy The Journey - Pink Paislee Hope Chest for The Scrapbook Store

For my fourth and final project using the Pink Paislee Hope Chest collection for The Scrapbook Store I decided to create a more modern look to break away from the vintage style I have been using with this kit.

My layout started as a 12x12 sheet of plain white smooth cardstock with which I added Dylusions Ink Sprays to create a custom background matching my photograph. After the ink was dry I began layering up my "offcuts" from the leftover pieces in my kit including Documents, Keepsake, Records and Treasures patterned papers along with the Journal Cards, Ephemera and Label Stickers

Lastly I added a couple of little Green Tara roses in coordinating colours and a button from my stash.

Thanks for visiting, hope you're having a great day.

Vintage Wedding Album - Hope Chest collection by Pink Paislee

My third layout for The Scrapbook Store featuring Pink Paislee Hope Chest collection again took on a vintage look inspired by a vintage photo album  with a few more modern looking elements. This collection seems to tell me to go vintage, but I think it would look just as lovely done in a more modern style.

For this layout I started out with the Documents patterned paper which features some amazing vintage ledger images, and added layers from the Ephemera pack as a mat for my photograph along with a Journal Card. I then cut strips from Heirlooms patterned paper which I layered around the edges of the design having aged them with Distress inks. I then layered torn strips of Tissue Tape to further add to the distressed and tattered look.

At the top of my layout I've added some rough cut circle elements from some leftover pieces of Treasures patterned paper, adding some random buttons from my stash. The finishing touch is that gorgeous Burlap Butterfly which really seems to pop.

Beautiful Day - Sketchbook365

I am so happy today to be able to share my first layout as Design Team member for Sketchbook365. I just adore the sketch we were given and it inspired me right away to create something soft and feminine - perhaps it was the butterflies in the sketch!

I've used lots of my favourite techniques and products for this almost monochromatic page - texture paste, opaque mists, layers and gorgeously feminine flowers for those finishing touches. I also have a thing for skeleton leaves at the moment and I am finding myself reaching for them often - love the texture they add to a layout.

Here is this months' sketch, and you have until the 20th June to upload your project to the Sketchbook365 blog - I'd love to see your take. Don't forget to call in and see the other DT projects - they are FABULOUS!

It's time for the mid-month DT reveal at 123 Challenge and there are some absolutely amazing layouts so far from both the Design Team and current entries. The prompt is such a fun and playful theme, how can you resist?

Here is the official challenge for the month of May:

I'm looking forward to seeing how you go about it :)

EDIT: I should have probably added, this is one of my favourite photos of our darling little Holly when she was just starting to walk. Isn't she just adorable.

Vintage Wedding - Pink Paislee Hope Chest

Lately I've been playing around with vintage style layouts and trying to recreate that "authentically" old look and feel to the pages. You know, something that looks as if it was made generations ago with that torn, worn and battered look. In this layout I have featured a gorgeous vintage photograph of a wedding party taken some time during the 1920's and loaned to me by my good friend and scrapbooking artist Sandie Edwards

My kit from The Scrapbook Store this month is filled with the gorgeous Pink Paislee Hope Chest collection. I've used Heirlooms, Keepsake and Treasures patterned papers to create the base and layers in my layout, having distressed all the layers using my Distress Tool from Prima (very cool little gadget) and Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I've added some torn 7 Gypsies tape along with Hope Chest Journal Cards and Ephemera pieces to add to that layered look. To finish off I have added a spray of Green Tara flowers and leaves along with a gorgeous Burlap Butterfly and Label Sticker sentiment.

Hope you get some vintage style inspiration from my project.

Victorian Style Dress Tag - The Scrapbook Store

Today I am sharing the first of my Design Team projects for May at The Scrapbook Store featuring the new Pink Paislee Hope Chest collection. I have lately been really inspired by some of the amazing paper pieced dress designs around blog land and I wanted create my own version - this is the result.

I started out with a giant tag and arranged layers of Keepsake, Treasures and Trinkets patterned papers which I tore, distressed and adhered to my tag base. I then added some torn 7 Gypsies paper tape along with a few dabs of Mountain Meadow Dusty Attic paint, rubbing it back with some sandpaper for a natural worn look. Over this I layered a piece of Green Tara Burlap Trim which was also distressed by cutting and pulling apart the fibres. Lastly I added highlights to the background with Opaque Butter Zing Embossing Powder.

The dress was created by cutting the dress shapes, similar to how you would cut out a dress pattern, and arranging them on the tag with a small hanger I created from thin wire. I folded the paper to mimic the folds in a Victorian style ball gown with pleats and billowy style layers on the skirt and sleeves. The bodice was also cut and pieced together in a similar fashion to a corset. I've used Keepsake and Heirlooms patterned paper for the dress as well as a scrap of lace and a tiny Green Tara paper rose, and for a more realistic look to the dress I added shading with inks, paint and embossing powder.

Lastly I've added a variety of Green Tara roses and leaves arranging them in clusters top and bottom of the tag along with a gorgeous Pink Paislee Hope Chest Burlap Butterfly, some pearl trim, a tiny sentiment from the Label Stickers pack and seam binding

I have also linked this up to the Paper Issues challenge to use Pink Paislee on a project. Thank you Monique Liedtke

Thanks for dropping in today, hope you find some inspiration from my tag.

Life Is Good With You Around - The Scrapbook Store

The first day of the month always brings a great new sketch to play with at The Scrapbook Store and this month I've created a mixed media style background using lots of colour and a variety of mediums.

I've used papers and embellishments from My Minds Eye Collectable Notable collection including patterned papers, journalling cards and decorative buttons and created a background to match with Dylusions Ink Sprays, Zing Embossing Powders, Green Tara paper roses, Kaisercraft texture stamps, American Crafts Thickers alpha (which are super cheap on special at the moment!) and Tim Holtz Distress inks

Here is the sketch for May -

Join us this month and upload your take on the sketch for a chance to win the random monthly drawing of a $40 voucher from The Scrapbook Store with free postage. Hope to see you there!
