I thought I would share this layout today that I created a while ago using a photograph of Courtney and her friends at a recent outdoor music festival. She looks so deep in thought and I love that this small moment was captured in a photo. Who knows what she was thinking?

I have used bright vivid colours to reflect the feeling of summer heat, creating my background with a variety of mediums to achieve this layered and textured look. The large butterfly element is also a photograph taken from my personal collection.

This was a layout I created "just because", which I don't do nearly often enough these days.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Four Layouts To Share

Back in September last year I was asked to create a few layouts for Scrapbook Creations magazine, and today I wanted to share those on my blog. I was inspired to create this first layout using a gorgeous photograph of our eldest daughter Holly. I don't often use earth tones in my creations these days and it's really fun to look back at the things you were creating with several months ago. It's amazing how much my creative style can change and evolve in such a short time.

Again this second layout really shows a different facet of my personal scrap style. My love of layers and white space is really apparent in this layout - and I still adore a page which features banners. Washi tape anyone?

I have a great love of the colours in this page - peach/coral shades teamed with aqua/mint really does make me happy when I am creating a layout. I think this was about the time I really started to fall in love with gesso too where this is created on a gesso background.

And lastly this page was created using Christmas themed papers and embellishments for a non-Christmas themed layout.

It's been a magnificent autumn day here on the coast, I hope you are enjoying yours too.

Today - 123 Challenge

I just adore this photo of Holly taken when she was a little girl. She was always such an outdoors type of kid and liked nothing better than to be out in the fresh air enjoying the world. This was taken on a windy day while we were out for a walk and it captures her beautifully.

This layout was created for the current 123 Challenge using the following prompt as my inspiration.

Isn't this a fun challenge! I think the visual prompts are a great way to set the mood and get started on a page - so hoping you can join in with me this month with your own version!

Thanks for calling in and have a great scrappy day -

Happy Love Laughter - Background Technique Tutorial on The Scrapbook Store Blog

Today I wanted to share another layout created using my Fancy Pants Park Bench kit from The Scrapbook Store. I adore the colours and the patterns in this collection and have found it really easy to create with - everything seems to just flow. I love it when that happens.

For a little something extra I've also created a step by step tutorial on how I created the background for this layout using some fun mediums from the store. If you're interested in learning more on how I did this, please follow the link here. Be forewarned, it can get messy :) :)

Here are the materials I used along with links to the store:

Have fun!!

Bring Your Own Sunshine - The Scrapbook Store

This layout was creating using my April DT kit from The Scrapbook Store, which features papers and embellishments from Fancy Pants Park Bench collection

I have created my own background to coordinate with the colours in my kits using a gesso base and some of the new Green Tara burlap trim in Sand, then added colour with a pretty shade of yellow acrylic paint. I then added a few random drops of ink with Dylusions Calypso Teal.

After my background was completely dry I created some layers using a Decorative Paper Bag (these are cute as!) and a couple of strips of patterned paper scraps leftover from previous layouts. I've then added a scattering of chipboard and novelty buttons from the Button Set, created some pretty daisies using MFT Die-namics Sunflower and Park Bench Lighthouse patterned paper with some TSS mini paper roses in the centres.

The finishing touch is my title "Bring Your Own Sunshine", a gorgeous sentiment which I cut from the Strips patterned paper.

Enjoy Sunday! Its looking like a beautiful day outside here on the coast.

Spring Beauty

Following up from the previous post on this page, this is the second layout that I created for the Scrapbooking Memories Masters competition for 2012. This layout was created using a tiny charm my daughter wore on a necklace when she was little, and I have included it on this page as a memento from that time.

Looking back, this layout is now about 8 months old, but I am still using quite a lot of the same techniques on the pages I am creating today. Inky watercoloured backgrounds, distress stamping, layers, white space and torn patterned paper and washi - these are still my go to's. Oh and those COLOURS!

Not really knowing what to do with this page, I decided to submit it to PaperHaus magazine and was absolutely stoked when they wrote me back to say they accepted it for publication - how cool! So here I am today, sharing this one on my blog. Finally. Some projects you create really mean something special - and this one is exactly that.

Thanks for joining me on my blog today, I really hope you like this one - it's one of my faves.

In The Blink Of An Eye - Double Page Layout

Last year I entered the Scrapbooking Masters competition for Australian Scrapbooking Memories magazine for the first time. I wasn't successful but I have been fortunate enough to have had three out of my four creations published or about to be published in various magazines, both domestic and international. I put such a lot of work into this submission so it seemed a waste not to share it on my blog.

This was my entry for the double page layout featuring photographs of me growing up, from around age 6 months to 7 years. My father worked with the railways and so we travelled around quite a lot while I was a kid as he was transferred in his job. Most of my childhood was spent in small country towns from north west NSW, far west NSW to the southern riverina. I don't have too many photos of myself as a child but I was happy to have found these which worked well for the challenge theme.

I can definitely see my scrap style shining through on this layout - from the arty self made background to my love of layers and asymmetrical style. This layout really was a labour of love for me.

Thanks for dropping in, have a lovely rest of your day.

This Is Happiness - The Scrapbook Store

This month for The Scrapbook Store I get to have some fun with the new Fancy Pants collection Park Bench. These really are my colours. Aqua, green and yellow - yes please!

I started out by creating my background using Dusty In Colour Mountain Meadow paint which I watered down and added some gold shades to coordinate with papers from Park Bench. I then began creating some layers with some borders cut from Strips patterned paper along with elements from the Sticker Fundamentals sheet and the Button Set. The Decorative Bags add a fun element and can be layered up or used to house some journaling as I have done in my layout with a pull out tag. I have also punched some of the patterned circles from Conversation patterned paper along with some of the flowers from Fountain, finishing off my layout with a row of Kaisercraft Paper Blooms in a coordinating colour and a sweet little single yellow paper rose. Easy peasy!

Thanks for dropping in - hope you have a lovely day today.

A New Layout and Tag Featuring Paper Flowers

Today it is my turn to share with you my post for Green Tara for April featuring paper flowers. The two large blooms are simple paper flowers which have been layered together along with some Green Tara Stamens for that finishing touch. I have been using them quite a lot lately in different ways, but they really do come into their own when added to the centre of a flower, giving you that professional finish. LOVE these so much. I have also used two little silver sprays and silver leaves to add to the sparkly look of my layout. I have to say, this is probably one of my favourite layouts so far this year. I just love how this came together.

My second project again features some Green Tara paper flowers, this time I have used the ready made blooms in red for huge contrast against the yellow/lime green mixed media style background. A large gardenia, cherry blossom, paper roses and flower spray along with some velvet leaves all come together to create my flower arrangement along with some hand dyed Green Tara lace tucked in and around the tag and all finished off with some wired Green Tara trim at the top of the tag. I had so much fun creating this project from start to finish, and I'm really happy with how this one turned out.

And lastly I have revisited a recent layout I created for Once Upon A Sketch's April challenge which also features some Green Tara goodies - a flower spray, tiny roses, lattice style lace and again some handmade layered paper flowers and stamens.

Thanks for calling in - you can find more detail on the products I have used on these projects on the Green Tara blog today.

There is also a Design Team call going on and I would so love to see you join me on the team. There is just under a week left to get your application in, so if you are thinking of of applying then please do!! You just never know! Good luck!

You - Guest Designing @ 2Crafty Chipboard

Today is my turn at 2Crafty to share a creation featuring some gorgeous new 2Crafty chipboard. I chose some of the brand new release pieces to feature on my layout as well as taking another look at an older chipboard set and using it in a different way.

I was completely inspired by the set of 3 Dandelions and this became my starting point to which the rest of my layout evolved. I have also used You, Loopy Font for my title and finished the look off with some tiny chipboard dots taken from the Borders Forever pack.

For more info on how I decorated my chipboard along with some further detailed photos, please see my post on the 2Crafty blog here.

Thanks for calling in and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Farm Life - April Sketch Challenge @ The Scrapbook Store

I found this photograph of the girls when they were little, all lined up at the cow fence trying to feed them some hay. It made me laugh a bit to see the cows all huddled together on the far side of the fence - they don't seem too tempted by the tiny handfuls of food being offered. I love scrapping these kinds of photographs.

The colours and the style in the picture teamed together perfectly with October Afternoon's Farm Girl collection and I've created this layout using April's sketch at The Scrapbook Store. Here is the sketch:

I've used patterned papers for my background and created several layers in and around my photograph using several other elements from this collection including Sticker Sheets, buttons, the Miscellany pack, Banners and washi tape. The messy look painty background was created using Tim Holtz Distress Paint in Picket Fence.

Don't forget there is a randomly drawn $40 store voucher plus free postage up for grabs so get your entries in before 30th April to be in the running. Upload your entries to the gallery here

Thank you for dropping in today, looking forward to seeing your creations!

Happy - Once Upon A Sketch

I just love these photographs. They were taken impromptu on a windy day while we were at the beach and I am so glad to have them because they are just how I remember the girls when they were growing up, and therefore form part of a treasured memory. For anyone who may have followed my scrapbooking for a while, you will know that my little girls are not so little any more, and are now young adults starting out on their own adventures in life.

The theme we are given to scrap about this month at Once Upon A Sketch is to create a layout using the theme - Best Day Of Your Life. I have a few days I consider to be big highlights, but the day these girls came into our lives truly is up there with the best. They are such a gift, and I am thankful for them both.

So this month we would like to see -your- interpretation of the theme "Best Day Of Your Life". It doesn't have to be the day your children were born, but it can be anything that you consider to one of your best days. We like to see some journaling somewhere on your layout - mine can be found on the pull up tag behind one of my photos. Don't forget to follow the sketch too!

There are so many more inspiring design team layouts too admire as well, so hop on over, grab some ideas and let's see your take!

Carte Postale - KIU April Challenge

Wow - where is the year going? It feels like the weeks are just flying by - already we are starting to feel a bit of a chill in the air as a reminder that winter isn't all that far away.

I've taken a few days off from creating anything to just unwind and relax a bit over the Easter holidays with my family. It's always great to have Holly home with us again even if it is just for a few days. Can you believe, I forgot to get my camera out the whole time she was home? This was one of those -FACEPALM- moments when I realised.

Today I wanted to share a layout I created using a photo of Holly taken on board a whale watching tour boat off the coast of Hervey Bay for April's Kraft It Up! challenge.

This month we want to recycle some of that product packaging and use it on your layout, the only must have is that you use Kraft Cardstock or Kraft Patterned Paper!

So I have used some product packaging as per the challenge, but I have also recycled a few things just to keep it in theme. I really like the junky and random feel of the end result.

Hope you get the chance to play along with us this month at Kraft It Up!
