Guest Spot at Un Peu Fleur Bleue

Today I am very happy to be featured at Un Peu Fleur Bleue (A Little Blue Flower) blogspot. My friend Maree-Josee and her friends have begun a new blog which showcases flowers and how to use them on your layouts using lots of different styles, and the results are fabulous! I have been such a fan of Marie-Josee's own style so this was a huge honour to be asked. Along with a small interview Un Peu Fleur Bleue also features some of my recent layouts which showcases my love of flowers and different ways to use them on your projects.

Whether you are a long term user of flowers on your layouts or you are just starting out then this is the place to grab some inspiration and pick up a few tips and techniques along the way. Please drop in and take a look - you won't be disappointed!

I hope the Easter weekend has been good to you.

Unchartered Waters - The Scrapbook Store

Today I wanted to share my second layout created with Glitz Designs Uncharted Waters collection for The Scrapbook Store and using a photograph I took last year of an abandoned boat sitting all alone on the edge of the water. It caught my eye as it looked so alone.

I started out with a smooth white cardstock base, adding a splash of Dylusions colour then began to add my layers. The gold lace frame was taken from the Peek-A-Boos pack then various elements added to create that layered look - I've used Whatnots and a fussy cut banner from the 8x8 paper pad which holds my gold Teeny Alphas title, Sail Away. Lastly I created some tabs using the papers from the 8x8 pad and adhered them into place for a file folder look.

The large anchor element was taken from the Whatnots pack - isn't it fabulous - and I have fussy cut the seahorse image from Bits & Pieces patterned paper

For the top edge decoration I have used two strips of patterned papers - Damask and Anchors, along with a layer of Anchors washi tape, a file tab and small flag cut from the 8x8 paper pad and attached a strip of the Unchartered Waters Paper Garland with staples.

In the bottom corner I have used a piece of sticker element, the "Uncharted Waters" logo which I took from the cover of the paper pad, a Giant Rhinestone and some Green Tara roses.

Thanks for dropping in today. Hope you get to enjoy a creative weekend.

16 - Keeping The Best Guest Designer

About a week or so back I was very lucky to have been invited to Guest Design for Keeping The Best challenge blog, which is such an honour because I just love the creativity there.

Today the new sketch challenge has been released and I can share my interpretation. I've used an inky background to represent the circle in the sketch and added elements to mimic the rest of the design, with an electric blue pop of butterfly just because I love the colour! I know it doesn't quite match, but I think it works in a quirky kind of way!

All that PLUS I got to use some of my favourite Green Tara flowers and 2Crafty chipboard pieces - yay!

Thanks for visiting me today, hope to see you at Keeping The Best!

Worn & Weathered - Glitz Designs Unchartered Waters for The Scrapbook Store

This month I've been really spoilt having two kits to design with for The Scrapbook Store. The first kit is the gorgeous Bo Bunny Prairie Chic which can be found in earlier posts on my blog this month, and now I am showing off the beautiful Glitz Designs Unchartered Waters collection which has a funky nautical theme.

I decided to use a bold colour for my base and chose the reverse side of "Waves" patterned paper which is a lovely bright scarlet red. I then began adding layers in and around my photographs taken from the Journaling Stickers pack, the Whatnots pack, the Peek-A-Boos and washi tape, as well as several elements cut from the 8x8 paper pad. I just love how there are extra goodies printed on the "waste" of the paper pad, such as the arrow designs in my layout. They are the greatest! I then trimmed and added a few pieces from the Paper Garland - one across the top of one of my photographs and the other in the top right corner for a little extra decoration. Next up I created some file tabs from papers in the paper pad as well as some punched circles for that super layered look. Lastly I made the title using the gold Teeny Alphas pack and a giant ampersand which can be found in the Peek-A-Boos pack.

Thanks for dropping in!

Double Page Layouts - Australian Scrapbook Ideas

I have had a little secret now for quite some time, and you may have noticed I sneaky slipped a blinkie on my blog and made an entry on my Papercrafting Resume, but today I can finally share some of the biggest news in my scrapbooking career so far.

This month I made my debut in Australian Scrapbooking Ideas as a contributing design team member for 2013. Believe me, this was very hard to keep to myself because I am just over-the-moon very excited to be part of this great magazine along with an incredible list of talented design team members.

My challenge was to create three double layouts using a carnival or fun fare theme, one of which is pictured above. There is a complete step by step guide in the current issue of Australian Scrapbook Ideas on how to complete this double layout as well as two others PLUS comprehensive materials lists and suggested local retailers.

How good is this! Just too happy for words!

A Year Of Change - 123 Challenge

Have you heard? 123 Challenge blog has been reborn and there is an awesome challenge up for March to get us back into the swing of things. This month we are featuring the colour BLACK, using the word YEAR and our technique is to use TWINE circles. Here is the visual prompt we were given:

I was really inspired by the black inky splat in the prompt and so my layout evolved around that visual. Using black Dylusions I created my background, and chose a photograph of me taken late last year to represent the last 12 months in my life. It really has been a year of change, not only for myself but also for our little family.

Isn't this a cool challenge! There are lots of awesome prizes up for grabs too so you'd be mad to miss out! I hope this inspires you to create your own version of the prompt and I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Enjoy a creative day!

Beautiful You - The Scrapbook Store

Today I wanted to share with you my second layout for The Scrapbook Store using papers and embellishments from the Bo Bunny Prairie Chic collection.

These are such fun designs to play with and I was completely drawn to the banner elements making them a huge part of my overall design. I have cut elements from both Corral and Market Finds patterned papers as well as adding lots of die cut elements from the Noteworthy pack. To complete the look of the banner I have also added lots of the Prairie Chic Buttons, a couple of Prairie Chic Brads and a sprinkling of Green Tara roses.

I created my background on smooth white cardstock using some of the new Tim Holtz Distress Paints in Mowed Lawn which coordinates with this range perfectly.

Thanks for calling in! This was such a fun layout to create - I hope it inspires you in some way.

You - Prairie Chic @ The Scrapbook Store

This month I have been playing around with Bo Bunny's gorgeously girlie Prairie Chic collection for The Scrapbook Store. There are lots of fun elements and the colour palette is just so feminine with a dash of denim thrown in. I just love the how the bright pastels really catch your eye.

I started my layout with the light pink side of "Calico" patterned paper and began adding layers using elements from the "Noteworthy" die cuts pack including a couple of the sweetest little envelopes to create a matting for my photograph. I then cut some banner elements from the "Market Finds" patterned paper and arranged them under my photo along with a couple more smaller die cuts and a variety of brads from the Prairie Chic Brads pack. To finish the look of my banner I've added a button, a few Green Tara roses and a twisted wire tendril.

Thanks for dropping by - I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

My Liebster Award Top 5 Picks

Today I received a lovely email from Heather McMahon telling me that she had passed on the Liebster Award to my blog. Thank you so much Heather, this was a lovely surprise and I am really happy you thought of me for this today.

The Leibster Award was designed to be a blog award in the pay it forward fashion. It is awarded to blogs that have fewer than 200 followers to encourage new visitors to them. Once you have been nominated, you award it to five other blogs.

The rules are: post the award on your blog, give the award to 5 bloggers who you appreciate that have fewer than 200 followers then leave a comment on their blogs to let them know you have given them this award.

So I have a great long list of blogs I follow and I love each and every one of them. Really, there is such amazing talent all around us and I always enjoy visiting blogs and catching up on all the latest.

I have chosen some amazingly inspirational blogs to pass this award on to and these people all deserve lots of love and applause for their fabulous creativity. I have also chosen fellow Australian scrappers - some of whom I have the enormous pleasure of knowing in my real life.

Here are my top 5 Liebster Award recipients:

Anita S. Oh my goodness, this lady is one amazing talent! Go ahead and take a stroll through her blog and I am sure you will come away completely inspired. Wow!

Hello Belinda Spencer! I am so happy to be a part of The Scrapbook Store Design Team with you and I cannot believe you have less than 200 followers, but you only JUST scraped in with 198. I am sure you will hit the big 200 very soon. Belinda you are one amazing scrapbooking artist and I am spoiled each week seeing your incredible work.

Lisa Oxley. This girl just crazy loves colour! And I just crazy love what she does with it. You're a lady after my own heart Lisa - boldly artistic and not afraid to use it in your scrapbooking! I love what you do!

Di Garling. Is a true inspiration. She is a very busy person but never fails to find time to visit each and every one of her blogland friends to offer praise and encouragement. She also heads up 2 manufacturers Design Teams and in between all this she manages to create some amazing masterpieces and is constantly coming up with new layouts. Di really deserves this award.

Tarrah McLean. I've known Tarrah and her work for a few years now and I have watched her style grow and develop while she scraps about the people she loves. I love Tarrah's clean layered style and she always has some really cool funky embellishments. At the moment I am loving how she uses paper bags on her layouts. And she is one of the Scrapbooking Masters for 2013!

So these are my picks to pass on this great fun award. I hope you get around to see their blogs - it is well worth your time and I am sure you will come away newly inspired!

Happy - Guest Designer @ 2Crafty

Today I want to share my second project as Guest Designer for 2Crafty. I have had so much fun creating this page using the most adorable little chipboard pieces including  Maggie's Swirl flourish, some tiny chipboard dots taken from the Borders Forever Pack along with a piece of Tiny Filmstrip and sentiment from the Friendship Mini Word Pack. The almost monochromatic colour scheme works really well here too helping to show off the beauty of the chipboard and tying everything together nicely.

For more information on how I created this and some detailed photographs please see my post at the 2Crafty blog

Thanks for calling in to visit me!

March challenge is a COLOUR challenge....

There are some great prizes on offer for this fun theme so head on over and try your luck. I look forward to seeing you there.

Capture - A New Sketch @ KIU!

Today I also wanted to share my DT layout for Kraft It Up! which uses a sketch designed by the amazingly talented Angela at Scrap Friends. I just love a good sketch and it makes creating that much easier when you have a plan in front of you.

Here is the sketch we were given as our inspiration:

Of course I started out with a kraft cardstock base and began by choosing my photograph. I took this picture at the Hunter Valley Gardens a few months ago when all their roses were in full bloom - wow what a sight that was! I was lucky enough to have snapped the photo just as a bee was hovering around and so I had my title as well. Add to that a generous amount of layers and some bright pastel (is there such a term?) coloured patterned papers and washi and a layout comes to life.

I've done two posts today, so please scroll down to find my Green Tara goodies.

Enjoy your day!

Recycle An Old Coffee Jar and Two Layouts - Green Tara

Today I wanted to share a few really exciting things I have been working on over the past few weeks. I have been playing with some of the Green Tara texture papers and have featured them in two of my projects today so you can get an idea of just how fabulous they are.

In this first creation I have repurposed an old coffee jar and given it a gorgeously French chic look using a vintage style label and lots of Green Tara goodies. To read more about how I achieved this look and for some closer detailed photos, please take a look at the Green Tara blog.

More textured paper and an old snapshot of me taken when I was a wee bub. Oh my, are they new flowers I spy?

And for my last project I thought I would share this layout which I made a couple of weeks ago featuring a some handpainted paper flowers from Green Tara. These are so simple to create and they look wonderful all painted up and layered together. Add some Green Tara stamens for that finishing touch and these flowers really pack a punch.

Here is a closer look at my handmade daises with the stamen centres, along with some velvet leaves and metallic trim.

And my love affair with skeleton leaves just keeps growing and growing. Check out this bright pink beauty.

Thanks for calling in today - have a good one!
